December has always been a time when Ghanaians living abroad returned home to visit their family and friends and enjoy the festive season.

It was in 2019 during the ‘Year of Return’, when the Ghana Tourism Authority, under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, officially launched the #DecemberInGH campaign to promote Ghana as a December holiday season destination for the global African family and beyond.

The campaign has thus far exceeded expectations putting Ghana on the global map and spotlighting it as the official holiday season destination attracting many from diverse backgrounds including many Hollywood stars. ‘December in Gh’ is not just about tourism numbers. It has become a clarion call for the global African family to reconnect around our arts and culture.

The campaign includes a signature calendar of events which features activities that have been officially endorsed by the Ghana Tourism Authority through the Beyond the Return Secretariat. It is one of the most anticipated calendars, as travellers book their trip based on which events they plan to attend.

‘December in GH’ is building a new wave that will help promote African music, fashion, food, and many more indigenous activities that touch the three pillars of our tourism ministry; tourism, arts and culture.

Many of the events are also central to the pillars of the ‘Beyond the Return’ initiative as we continue to engage with the historical diaspora community.
