The golf tournament is an invitational that’s open to gofers in Ghana and West Africa and takes place from the 26th – 28th of August at the Centre of the World Golf Club in Tema. CEO of Ghana Tourism Development Company, Kwadwo Antwi said this tournament promotes sports tourism and also puts the spotlight on Ghana as the centre of the world because the city of Tema is the closest habitable land close to where the Greenwich Meridian and the Equator cross at the longitude 0ᵒ and latitude 0ᵒ on the earth.
The Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mark Okraku-Mantey spoke at the event adding that sports tourism would be one of the drivers of global tourism and Ghana is in the position to take advantage of its geographic location. The tournament has been dubbed version 3.0 and they expect it to be highly competitive this year.
